Casting YOUR vote for Sandy is so important to our campaign! There are four open seats on the School Board this year and there are eleven candidates on the ballot. New school board members are decided by the top four candidates with the highest votes. Every vote makes a difference!
Are You Registered to Vote?
Eligible voters can register to vote by going to:
- the Alamance County Board of Elections
- any of Alamance County’s Public Libraries during regular hours
- the Drivers License Examiners Office while there on official business
- Various Agencies – Social Services office, Agencies dealing with people with disabilities, Employment Securities Commission and Armed Forces Recruitment Offices
Eligible voters can also register by mail if desired.
The deadline to register to vote in North Carolina is 25 days before the date of an election, or before 5:00PM on October 9, 2020. The voter registration application must be received by the applicant’s county boards of elections by this date. If an application is received after the deadline, the application may still be timely if it was mailed and it is postmarked on or before the voter registration deadline; otherwise, the application will not be processed until after the election. Persons who register at the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles or another voter registration agency will be considered registered as of the date the application is given to the agency. As long as this date is on or before the voter registration deadline, then the application will be deemed timely for an upcoming election.
Eligible individuals who miss the registration deadline may still register and VOTE AT THE SAME TIME during the one-stop early voting period – October 15th through October 31st. More details coming soon with polling locations and hours for early voting!
When to Re-Register
Your registration is permanent unless you move or change your name.
If you have moved within Alamance County, you must transfer your registration by re-registering. You may choose to write your new address on the back of your voter identification card and mail it to the Alamance County Board of Elections.
You must re-register with the local election authority or county clerk if you move to an address outside of the County.
Voters who legally change their name, but not their address, do not have to re-register. If you have changed your name, you can vote after updating your information at the polls.
Where Do I Vote?
On Election Day, you will cast your ballot in a polling place, usually in a public building near your home, that serves as your specific polling place. Click here to find your polling place.
